Downey Lighting recommends using a marine deep cycle 12v battery, which can be purchased from most battery suppliers including Wal-Mart for around $60.
There are many mounting solutions. One of our most popular and cost effective is simply to use a 10' x 3" plastic pipe for the bottom portion and a 5' by 2" plastic pipe for the top portion. Mount everything but the light below the 10ft junction and the light at the top of the 5ft pipe. A wooden 2x4 or 4x4 can also be used as well as mounting on the side of a structure.
